Recently, RJ Mahvash and The Archies actor Mihir Ahuja’s web series Pyar Paisa Profit premiered on Amazon MX Player. The show is based on author Durjoy Datta’s novel Now That You’re Rich: Let’s Fall in Love!. A few days ago, Mayapuri Magazine journalist Shilpa Patil caught up with Mahvash and Mihir for an exclusive interview. During the conversation, she asked them several questions about the show and their journey in Mumbai. Here’s what they had to say.
- The trailer of Pyar Paisa Profit looks very exciting. What is the series about? What kind of story can viewers expect?
Mahvash: See, the series is about people who enter the startup world with big dreams. But the kind of pressure and politics they go through is something outsiders never see. It shows how, in order to survive in the corporate world, you sometimes have to risk your friendships, your love life, and even your moral compass.
Mihir: Absolutely! Every character has their own journey. Everyone comes from somewhere and wants to reach somewhere else—but that journey is never a straight path. It’s filled with highs and lows. I play Abhijeet—a guy who comes to Mumbai from Delhi with big dreams, only to learn that not every shortcut is the right one.
- What made you say yes to this show and your roles in particular? Was there anything that drew you to them?
Mahvash: The most special part about my character was how much I could relate to her. She makes silly mistakes in love—just like I do. She sees red flags, but ignores them anyway. When I read the script, I felt today’s generation would really relate to this character and story.
Mihir: For me, this was the first time I couldn’t relate to the character at all. I had to really work hard to get into Abhijeet’s skin. Director Prashant Singh guided me a lot, and gradually I began to understand Abhijeet. It was definitely a challenging role—but now when I see the finished series, I feel proud.
- Everyone has their own story of coming to Mumbai. Tell us about your journey—was it all planned?
Mahvash: My coming to Mumbai was very filmi. I just packed my bag and came—no plans, no backup. I had just enough money to survive for 2–3 months. Then I landed my first show, and that too with Amazon. That’s where it all began.
Mihir: I’m from Jamshedpur. I’ve always been passionate about acting. I came to Mumbai under the pretense of studying—just so I could attend auditions. I knocked on every door I could find. There were no shortcuts for me—it was all about hard work and a little bit of luck.
- What matters more to you—love or money?
Mahvash: Love! Try hugging a salary cheque when you have no one by your side—you’ll realize what true happiness really is.
Mihir: I’d say both are important. Life feels incomplete without love, but money is essential too—to give that love a comfortable life. Balance is the key.
- These days, shortcuts seem to be a trend among young people. What are your thoughts on that?
Mahvash: I feel if a shortcut works for you, great—but find your own path. Don’t let others tell you what to do. If you mess up, come back and start again.
Mihir: Yeah, shortcuts are fine only if they lead you to the right place. But I started everything from scratch—auditions, rejections, and slowly getting work. For me, hard work was the only way. Every day was a learning experience.
- There’s so much content on OTT platforms these days. Why should viewers watch Pyar Paisa Profit? What makes it special?
Mahvash: If you’re annoyed with your boss, stressed at work, or have ever made a fool of yourself in love—this show is for you.
Mihir: Not just corporate folks—anyone can connect with this series. Every character reflects something real, something relatable. The show is based on Durjoy Datta’s novel Now that You’re Rich: Let’s Fall in Love!—so you can imagine how strong the writing is. If you want to grow and evolve every day, this show will definitely resonate with you.
FYI: Pyar Paisa Profit is now streaming on Amazon MX Player from 7th May.
